With any new system, it takes a bit of time with a couple of trial and errors before things begin to click. As I’ve been working in Bruin Learn, I’ve come to find some pretty handy tricks.
For starters, when editing a Page, the rich content editor (RCE) is pretty accurate. What you see on the form is what you get when you save and view the Page in non-editing mode. But sometimes there might have been text that you didn’t mean to erase or a formatting that didn’t quite look right after you have saved. Enter the Do-Over button.
Click on the 3 dots to the right of the Edit button and select “View Page History.” In the panel to the right, select the last saved point and click “Restore this version.” And viola, you’ve just completed your Do-Over.
Bruin Learn comes with a syllabus function that sounds useful, but if you have already created your syllabus in Word and formatted it to your liking, you might not want to recreate your syllabus in Bruin Learn. Well, when you upload a file to your Bruin Learn site and link to it in the Syllabus, you can set your syllabus to display automatically when a student visits the page.
As you create a link to your uploaded syllabus, click on the link to show “Link Options.” When you click on it, a window to the right will option with “Display Options.” Click on the radio button to “Preview inline” and check the “Expand preview by Default.” Save your syllabus and refresh your page!
And how’s this for an added bonus, students can use the tool Ally to create an accessible document of your syllabus from your Bruin Learn site!
